A Little Introduction

Hello, my name is Devin and as you should have gathered from the name of this blog, I am mama to two baby birds. Well, technically I am the mama of two humans but when I was pregnant with them we started to call them baby birds. Instead of kicking I felt little flutters my entire pregnancy, much like a bird. For some reason my husband and I are drawn to animal analogies for our babies so sometimes they are birds, sometimes they're called goats, etc. Birds is just the analogy that has stuck with them the longest so far. Being a new mom is just one of the many hats I wear. I also work full time as a hospital chaplain. I am chair of the board of a summer camp. I am an ordained pastor. I preach at different churches in our region some weekends. Oh, and I am a wife. My husband is David. He's a stay-at-home Dad right now. We've been together since we were teenagers. We met volunteering at a camp for adults with developmental disabilities. As cliché as it sounds, I knew from our first date that I wanted to have a family with this guy. And so we did.

So my birds are M & L. They are fraternal twin girls. Right now they are two months old, but they were born 6 weeks early. They are pretty awesome kids and even though they are twins and still newborns they have very different personalities. M is the quieter of the two. She tends to just watch things and take the world in. My guess is that she's the one that will give us a run for our money later in life. L is louder, both in terms of volume as well as in terms of how often she makes noises. M likes to be wrapped as snuggly as possible when she sleeps and L is kind of ambivalent.

After two years of fighting infertility we beat it. And when you pray for a miracle, sometimes you get two. So I decided to start this blog as a place to update people on our little family. When I was in college and part of grad school I kept a blog about my life but it fell to the wayside. Here I intend to blog about the lives of the girls, being a mom of twins, infertility, being a working mom, and all of the other aspects of our new lives as parents. I invite you to come along for the journey!
